The Department of Radiology at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Thoracic and or Cardiothoracic Radiologist to join the Cardiopulmonary Imaging Section. Currently eight faculty members comprise the Thoracic Imaging and Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging Section and are responsible for interpreting in-patient and out-patient chest radiographs, all chest CT’s including HRCT, CT Aortography, CT Pulmonary Angiography, and Cardiac CTA’s, as well as Cardiac MRI and pre-ablation pulmonary vein MR studies. Thoracic interventions performed by the section include lung and mediastinal biopsies. TeraRecon and Vitrea multiplanar and 3-D workstations and hospital RIS access are available at each radiologist’s personal 6 megapixel PACS station. PowerScribe, a flexible Web based speech recognition system, was upgraded to the latest version in June 2009. The department has state-of-the-art imaging equipment including 5 current MDCT scanners with 3 more scanners being installed between this winter and spring 2011, all of which will have dual source capabilities, and 3-1.5T MRI scanners. Members of the Cardiopulmonary and Thoracic Imaging Section work in close association with the Department of Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, and Cardiology, as well as other subspecialty programs.
