Summary
The Society of Thoracic Radiology 2007 Annual Meeting was held at the Red Rock Resort, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 25 - 29. The STR also celebrated their 25th Anniversary at this meeting. The meeting was very successful, by all accounts. There were approximately 430 physicians in attendance from the US, Canada, and at least 45 other countries.

To celebrate the 25 th Anniversary, commemorative mugs were purchased, a brochure from the 1982 meeting was replicated, a trivia contest of 1982 information was conducted, a continuous slide show was played in the Exhibit Hall, a founding members luncheon was held, and a champagne toast was given. The committee did a great job of incorporating the anniversary into the meeting.

This year, the first Gold Medal Award from the Society was given for outstanding lifetime achievement to Dr. S. David Rockoff, the first STR president. Although Dr. Rockoff was not able to attend the meeting, he sent his thanks and appreciation.

The Benjamin Felson memorial lecture was given by Dr. H. Ric Harnsberger. The Scanlon Symposium’s guest speaker was Dr. Warren Gefter. An audience response system was used throughout the meeting and was utilized by several speakers. Two SAMs and a cardiac workshop were also presented at the Annual Meeting.

The quality of material presented was high. There were a total of 110 faculty, 66 posters, and 21 oral presentations. The Awards Committee gave out several ribbons for the best posters. The first Jack Westcott Award for the best oral presentation was given to Dr. Terrance Healey (resident) for his presentation on Chronic Effects of Smoke Inhalation on Inspiratory and Expiratory 64-row Multidetector HRCT. He is from Brown Medical School-Rhode Island, Hospital.
