Thoracic Imaging Faculty:
Five full-time thoracic radiologists. All are members of the Society
of Thoracic Radiology.
Fellowship Information:

Eligibility:
Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology by ABR or equivalent.
Foreign radiologists must have completed USMLE Parts 1, 2.
Requirements:
Completion of a 4-year radiology residency program.
Fellowship Program:
The UCLA Department of Radiological Sciences has an unexpected clinical fellowship
in Thoracic Imaging available for the July 1, 2002-2003 academic year. The program
will include experience in chest radiology with considerable exposure to thoracic
nonvascular interventional procedures. Fellows will undergo a clinical fellowship
in all aspects of cardiothoracic imaging and will be encouraged to participate
in scientific research projects that include a variety of cardiopulmonary functional
imaging projects, lung cancer imaging studies, PACS and health services research
outcomes. The Thoracic Imaging section has five faculty attendings who are responsible
for all chest radiography, thoracic CT/MR imaging, CT angiography, fluoroscopy,
and nonvascular interventional. The department has state-of-the-art equipment
including MCT scanners, MR scanners, and CT PET scanners. The Thoracic Interventional
service is active in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment including radiofrequency

Conferences:
Fellows participate in multidisciplinary pulmonary, surgical thoracic oncology,
and lymphoma conferences as well as radiology-pathology, and Critical Care conferences.
Research:
The fellow is encouraged to participate in research projects
under faculty supervision and to publish peer-reviewed papers
as well as make scientific presentations at major meetings.
Education:
The fellow regularly participates in the thoracic imaging conferences
for Diagnostic Radiology residents and in the daily instruction
of residents on service. Fellows are expected to be principally
involved with the continued development of electronic teaching
materials produced within the section.
Benefits:
Cumulative vacation of three weeks; academic time for attendance at professional
meetings is provided and flexible. Professional reimbursement of up to $2,000
is provided for travel and attendance at meetings in which the fellow participates.
